Can I use the boat lift for my own boat?

The dock has a power boat lift rated for 4,000 lbs. If your boat is fiberglass, longer than 19 feet, and/or has a motor larger than 150 hp, don’t raise it fully out of the water — instead use the lift like a slip and pull the boat in snug but not completely lifted. Renters are liable for any damage to the boat lift. Shore power is available at the dock (keep the cord end in the covered electrical box so moisture doesn’t trip the GFI).

Can I tie up a pontoon at the dock?

We don’t recommend tying pontoons to the dock. If you’re renting a pontoon, request one with “sea legs” — these let you park it right next to the dock and lift it out of the water so wind and waves can’t move it. Otherwise, beach the pontoon and tie it off to a tree at the shore. Regular fishing boats can be tied to the dock: tie off with the bow facing the lake so waves won’t swamp the boat, and bring good-size bumpers to protect it.

Where is the nearest boat launch, and where can I rent a boat?

The public boat launch is at Stony Point off Onigum Rd; Brindley’s Harbor is a paid launch nearby. For rentals, Recreational Rentals (gorentfun.com) will deliver pontoons right to the dock and also rents jet skis/PWC. Other local options are J&K Marine and Trappers Landing. Remember to ask for “sea legs” on any pontoon.

Is the tap water safe to drink?

Yes, but Loon Lodge runs on well water and the taste isn’t the best, so we provide a Brita pitcher to filter it. Water pressure is lower than a typical city supply, and you may hear the pressure tank recharging in the basement — that’s normal. The home is also on a septic system, so please flush only toilet paper (no “flushable” wipes or liquid drain products) and avoid large back-to-back baths with big groups.

Are beach towels provided?

Bath and kitchen towels plus all bed linens are provided, but beach towels are not — please pack your own. Bath towels shouldn’t be taken down to the beach. There’s a hose at the deck stairs to rinse sand off your feet before heading back inside.

Is the water deep enough for diving off the dock?

No — please, no diving. The water is shallow all the way around the dock. That said, the 100-foot private sand beach is weed-free and excellent for swimming and wading, with a level, easy walk from the house down to the water. Beach toys and an air pump are in the garage for your use.

How does check-in work, and can I arrive early?

The home has keyless entry. Your front-door access code is emailed 3 days before arrival. Please note the code will not work before 4:00 PM on your check-in day and stops working at 10:00 AM on checkout day. Early check-in or late checkout must be arranged in advance, isn’t always possible, and may carry a $50 charge each.

Can I go ice fishing in winter, and how do I get on the ice?

Yes. You can reach the ice right through our yard by snowmobile or ATV. To drive a vehicle onto the ice, contact Anderson’s Pine Point Resort or Acorn Hill Resort — Acorn Hill’s ice road runs from Trader’s Bay out to Stony Point and costs about $20/day. (Note: Adventure North Resort’s lake access is for their guests only.)

What's the parking situation, and can I bring a trailer or ATV?

There’s room for 2 cars in the garage and 2 in the driveway, plus space to park a trailer in the garage or on the grass on the south side. Please keep all vehicles and trailers clear of the garbage-bin door. Trader’s Bay Trail Road is a private HOA road — no parking on it. ATVs may not be ridden on the property or on Trader’s Bay Trail Road; it’s an access road only, not for recreation.

Can I bring my dog, and what are the rules?

Yes — up to 2 dogs are welcome for a fee of $89 per dog. Please keep dogs leashed on the property and pick up after them, wipe muddy or wet paws before coming inside, keep dogs off the furniture, and crate any dog left alone in the home.

The master suite (king bed) & sofa sleeper are always open and included on all groups. - If your group consists of 4 – 5, choose between the twin bedroom (2 twin beds plus bath) or the Queen Bedroom & bath. Additional bedrooms can be opened for parties of less than 5 for $60/per bedroom per stay.
